Drug Bust: Two smugglers held, hashish seized

70 kg of hashish were recovered from secret cavities in a truck

PESHAWAR: Police claimed to have foiled a drug smuggling bid and arrested the alleged smugglers here on Friday. A police spokesperson said that the Sarband police received a tip-off that hashish from the tribal belt was being smuggled in to Punjab, upon which Sarband Police Station House Officer (SHO) Fazl Wahid had barricades set up. Later, 70 kg of hashish were recovered from secret cavities in a truck (C 1130/MRK). Police also arrested the two smugglers, Umra Khan and Shahid Khan, both residents of Mingora, Swat. It is the second big hashish bust in the city in two days, as on Wednesday, the Sarband police recovered 80kg of hashish and arrested Gulab Khan.
