LAHORE: The Lahore High Court on Tuesday sought reply from the federal government on a petition by a former provisional constitutional order (PCO) judge seeking an enhancement in his pension. Justice Nasim Sikander who was retired for taking oath under the PCO has filed the petition. The petitioner’s counsel Ali Akbar Qureshi, also a former PCO judge, submitted that the president had increased the pension of retired judges by 75 per cent and medical allowance by 20 per cent during the current year. He said that the judges who were retired due to taking oath under the PCO were not being extended the increase. The petitioner prayed the court to take notice of the discrimination and direct the federal government to pay the pension and medical allowance equal to other retired judges.
