LAHORE:

An eleven-year old girl who was kidnapped for ransom was killed by her abductors after her parents could not pay the ransom.

Nawankot police said that they suspected that Bisma, a class five student, had been taken from near her house while she was on her way to school on Monday. Her father, Murad, in his complaint told Nawankot police that Bisma had not came back from school. Murad said that he had checked with the school and was told that she had not reached the school. SI Maqbool told The Express Tribune that the abductor had made contact with Murad, a rickshaw driver, late on Monday and demanded Rs50,000 in ransom.

He said that Murad had told him that he could not pay the whole amount but promised to gather as much as he could. Maqbool said that a girl’s body was found in an empty plot in Maraghzar Colony.

The police official said that judging by the marks on her neck, the girl appeared to have been strangled. The body has been sent for an autopsy to ascertain the cause of death. He said that the number through which contact was made with Murad is being traced.
