MULTAN: Local nurses protested for an increase in their wages for the fifth day on Sunday. Nurses in Multan took out a rally from Children’s complex to Nishtar hospital to protest against the Health Department for an increase in their wages and permanent job status. A large number of nurses participated in the rally held under the banner of the Young Nurses Association. Later, the nurses protested outside Nishtar Hospital and said that the government ought to give them a permanent pay package.Protesting nurses said that they worked extremely hard and deserved to be paid accordingly. “Doctors have been struggling to get an improved pay package and the Punjab Government needs to think about other health workers as well. We deserve a pay raise just as much as they do,” said protesting nurse Raheela.
