Punjab police arrest 17 suspected militants from various cities

LAHORE:

Security officials in Punjab arrested 17 suspected terrorists including three Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) commanders from various cities of the province on Wednesday.


Police have also seized several mobile phones and laptops from the suspects.


The three TTP commanders Qari Muhammad Ashraf, Dr Abdul Khaliq and Mohammad Sarfraz have been arrested from Lahore.


Qari Mohammad is an alleged associate of Dr Usman, the mastermind behind the attack on the GHQ in Rawalpindi.


Sources in the police said the three TTP commanders previously belonged to Lashar-e-Jhangvi, another banned militant outfit.
