Functions remain same: SECP renames registration dept
SECP has changed the name of its registration department to Corporatisation and Compliance Department
ISLAMABAD:
The Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP) has changed the name of its registration department to Corporatisation and Compliance Department. In a press release, the SECP, while giving the reason for the name change, said the old name gave the impression that the department was responsible only for registration of companies, which was one of its functions. The department was tasked with administering and enforcing the Companies Ordinance 1984 and rules made thereunder, it said. Its primary functions include registration of companies, monitoring corporate compliance with statutory requirements and regulating statutory functions. The department is also responsible for supervising functions of eight regional offices.
