Fresh graduates should not fear failure or family pressure.

KARACHI: Successful entrepreneurs have urged students of different business schools to become entrepreneurs in early years of their professional careers.

Speaking at an interactive session on entrepreneurship development organised by the Centre for International Private Enterprise (CIPE), a non-profit affiliate of the US Chamber of Commerce, Alchemy Technologies CEO Jawwad Farid said fresh graduates should not shy away from entrepreneurship because of fear of failure or family pressure.

“It’s good to fail when you’re young, because you can afford to fail. The cost of failure increases when one starts his own business in later years,” he said.

He said a young entrepreneur should register his or her start-up as a proprietor in the beginning and incorporate it once its cash flows improve. “It’s all about choice. You get to have complete control of your life if you’re self-employed,” Farid said.

He said despite the problems of law and order, Pakistan was still a good place to do business. “I launched four businesses. Three failed. One succeeded. And that was here in Pakistan.”
