A man who registered a case indirectly accusing Mohajir Qaumi Movement-Haqiqi (MQM-H) chief was shot and injured a day after a court effectively quashed the FIR because there was no evidence against Afaq Ahmed.
Khalid Hussain, a water board employee, said he was shot near his home on Wednesday. Doctors at Abbasi Shaheed Hospital said that the bullet exited.
On October 7, Hussain registered a case at Landhi police station, claiming that he was kidnapped and tortured on Afaq’s orders. The FIR did not, however, name the MQM-H chief but he became involved as MQM-H activists Raees Topi, Yameen alias Hakla and Ejaz Babu were named. He said that they acted on Afaq’s orders to kidnap him from outside his home in Landhi C-1 on October 6.
But on Tuesday, the Sindh High Court ordered that Afaq would not be arrested in this case as no evidence proving Afaq was involved was produced. None of the four kidnappers have been arrested yet.
