Anti-encroachment drive: Illegal truck stands raided, sealed

MIRPUR:

In a major crackdown against encroachments in residential areas, the district administration raided illegally-placed truck stands from sector D/4 here on Tuesday.

“A raiding team stormed the illegal truck stands at Block 2/A in Sector D/4 (near PMU offices) and sealed the offices under section C,” Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Tariq Mahmood Chaudhry told The Express Tribune.

The raiding team also took into custody people working at the truck stands; they took them to a police station and registered a case against them. The arrested truckers were later released on submission of surety bonds of Rs20,000 each.

The residents of the area had complained to the district administration about the truck stands. ADC Chaudhry said that the operators of the illegal truck stands have been given the last warning notice for shifting their stands to suitable places in outskirts of the city. They have also been asked to get their truck stands registered with the concerned authorities.
