Football: Mehmood marks comeback with goal

Striker Arif Mehmood made his comeback in style as Wapda defeated Afghan FC 2-1 in the PPFL.

KARACHI: Striker Arif Mehmood made his comeback in style as Wapda defeated Afghan FC 2-1 in the Pakistan Premier Football League (PPFL) yesterday. Mehmood missed previous fixtures due to an ankle injury but marked his return, scoring Wapda’s second goal after Muhammad Afzal’s opener. Afghan FC replied through Hanifullah’s goal in the 76th minute but failed to find an equaliser. Meanwhile, Army defeated Baloch FC 3-1. Baloch FC took the lead in the 30th minute, but Army’s Muhammad Sharjeel levelled the score in the 64th minute, while Muhammad Shabbir and Mubasshir Hussain sealed Army’s victory deep into the second half. Elsewhere, PMC Athletico defeated Pakistan Police 2-0 while KRL and Muslim FC played out a goal-less draw.
