Police party ‘tortured by villagers’

A raiding police party was tortured by villagers during a raid to arrest the suspects of a theft case in the limits of the Sadar police station on Sunday.


According to police officials, a police party conducted a raid in Chak No 403-GB for the arrest of Ameen and his brother Yaseen nominated in a theft case.

“The villagers put up resistance and tried to protect the accused. When we entered the house they began throwing stones at us and tied two police officials and began beating them,” said Inspector Kashif. Over one hundred officials attacked the police and also tore the uniforms of the raiding police party and forced them to leave the village.

On receipt of information, another police party from Saddar Tandlianwala police rushed to the spot and dispersed the mob after negotiating with them.

Tandlianwala Saddar police has registered a case against 60 villagers including Muzammal Husain on charges of attacking the police party. No arrests have been made so far.
