UNITED NATIONS: Pakistan has called on the UN Security Council to take “impartial and non-politicised actions” in a bid to put an end to the suffering of civilians in areas of armed conflict or those under foreign occupation.

“Regardless of the circumstances, attacking or killing civilians cannot be condoned,” Asif Durrrani, the Pakistani delegate, told the 15-nation Council on Wednesday. “Pakistan has always condemned such acts,” he said in an open debate on protection of civilians in armed conflict.
