PARIS:
Spanish rider Alvaro Bautista has been selected as replacement for the late Marco Simoncelli at Team Gresini. Simoncelli was killed during the Malaysian MotoGp on October 23 after coming off his bike and being hit by two riders behind him. Bautista has so far failed to repeat the success he enjoyed in the 125cc and 250cc categories. However, his new team manager Fausto Gresini believes that Bautista will fulfill his potential. “He’s a fast rider and I hold him in high regard for his personality,” said Gresini. “I’m sure he’ll integrate swiftly into our group and that we’ll enjoy some pleasant experiences together.” Bautista, who has been racing for Suzuki, said that he was sad to leave the team. “I’m very sad to be leaving Suzuki after the two great years that I have had here,” he said.
