Citizens able to celebrate in peace

No major security incidents during Eid holidays.

LAHORE: The city remained peaceful and calm during Eidul Azha, with no major scares or emergencies reported during the three holidays.

More than 10,000 police jawans were deployed around the city for security. Constables patrolled parks and other public recreation sites on foot.

A large number of visitors were reported at Minto Park, Allama Iqbal Park, Gulshan Iqbal and National Park, while Race Course Park and the Lahore Zoo were the two most popular destinations on Eid.

However, several young motorists complained of harassment and extortion by Tiger Squad officials at police checkpoints. They said that they had been forced to bribe the police to be allowed to go past checkpoints.

Capital City Police Officer (CCPO) Ahmad Raza Tahir praised the “efficient services of Lahore Police” to ensure “peaceful and dignified celebrations on Eidul Azha”. He urged officers to continue to serve in the “same dedicated, efficient and hardworking manner”.

He thanked “Zinda Dilan-i-Lahore” for cooperating with the police for public safety.

The city’s police chief also praised the traffic police for ensuring a smooth flow of traffic during the Eid holidays.
