LAHORE:

Pakistan Railways authorities have directed the Railways police to further tighten security measures so that stations, trains and government assets remain safe during the Eid holidays.

In lieu of these orders, Railway Police have deployed both uniformed and plainclothes personnel at different points on platforms and stations. These police officers have been mainly stationed at the exit and entry points of the stations.

They have been directed to keep an eye on criminal elements and ensure that no one jeopardises the law and order situation.

The police have particularly been told to remain alert for criminals who might engage in theft and pilferage of passengers’ luggage. Police have also put some officers on trains to protect passengers as they head home for the holidays.

Close circuit cameras have also been made operational so that all suspicious activity and checking in of luggage is closely watched and recorded.
