A man working as a driver at the Punjab Board of Technical Education (PBTE) committed an act of self-immolation on Saturday, after he failed to provide for his family.

A resident of Mughalpura, Saleem was shifted to the hospital immediately after the incident. The doctors said he was in critical condition.

Chairmain PBTE Dr Shafiq said that fire had burnt 50% of Saleem’s body.

Dr Shafiq revealed that the driver, a father of two, would keep saying that he had no right to live if he “can’t give happiness to his children, especially on Eid.”

However, Dr Shafiq said that salary payments in his department were relatively better than other departments and that the workers additionally receive a bonus thrice in a year.

Earlier on Octover 25, Raja Khan, a father of two from Naushehro Feroz in Sindh, set himself on fire in front of Parliament House in Islamabad and succumbed to the burns at the hospital.

1) 80% burns 2) He wasn't poor, he lent money to someone who decided not to pay him back and told him he could do what he liked, he could set himself on fire which, in a fit of rage, he actually did. PBTE should not be scolded over the salary of their drivers, he didn't live in poverty, he was made poor by lending money to a "friend" who promised to pay him back before Eid and on the day of Hajj, told him there will never be a repayment. Don't trust anyone with your money. 3) He had 3 kids not 2 4) He has now passed away.

Humans, especially living in poverty have multiplied the population like the rabbits. It is high time that clergy educate the people and distribute condoms! This is one very effective way to make people aware of their responsibilities.
