ISLAMABAD: Immigration officials at the Benazir Bhutto International Airport Islamabad arrested a young man trying to travel to Italy on fake immigration documents on Sunday.

Ghulam Abbas, a resident of Mandi Bahaudin, was taken off flight PK-769 for possessing suspicious and incomplete travelling documents.

On scrutiny, the Italian sojourno he possessed was found fake.

Italian sojourno is a document issued by the immigration authorities to people who are recognized as the resident immigrants of Italy.

The 27-year-old Abbas was handed over to the anti-human trafficking cell of the Federal Investigation Agency for further investigations.

During initial investigations, Abbas revealed that he was an Italian resident card holder but his card had expired in 2008.

However, he failed to explain why he was not issued a new card. Further investigations were underway.
