
Marking 60 years of friendly Pak-China relations, a youth poster contest and exhibition opened at the Lok Virsa complex, Shakarparian on Thursday.
The exhibit showcased over 100 posters on the theme “Children Know Peace” by students from 25 schools based in the twin cities of Islamabad and Rawalpindi. Through their work, the students compared violence and peace in society and proposed harmonious solution to propagate progress, development and prosperity.
The opening ceremony attracted a large crowd mostly comprising of youth.
In his welcoming remarks, Lok Virsa’s executive director Khalid Javaid spoke about the various initiatives his organisation has undertaken to create awareness among the youth about their cultural heritage. Javaid added that “the Chinese side has been instrumental in providing artefacts for display in the link passage [linking Pakistan’s cultural heritage with China’s].”
