‘Children Know Peace’: Youth display talent to promote peace

More than 100 selected posters on themes of peace have been put on display at the Heritage Museum of Lok Virsa, said a press release on Thursday.

The one-week exhibition titled “Children Know Peace” has been arranged by Friends of China (FoC) to celebrate 60 years of friendship between Pakistan and China, said the press release.

A large number of people from different walks of life, especially students from various educational institutions attended the opening ceremony.

The posters, which have been made by the youth, speak against violence and sectarianism and stress on unity, equal rights and power of love. They reflect the young generation’s vision of peace and highlight the basic elements needed to maintain harmony at different tiers of life.

Speaking on the occasion, former ambassador of Pakistan to China Akram Zaki said that peace is the only solution for economic development and prosperity at a global level.

He also talked on the significance of Pak-China relationship in which he praised the hard work of Chinese people, which has lead them to become the second largest economy in the world.

He also appreciated Lok Virsa’s efforts in contributing, preserving and disseminating traditional culture of Pakistan in a professional and systematic way.

FoC Coordinator Munir Ahmed said Pakistan and China have a cordial relationship and realising the importance of this relationship, Lok Virsa has created a three-dimensional link passage at its popular Heritage Museum which presents Pakistan’s historical and cultural linkages and influences with China spreading over centuries through the Silk Road.

According to the organisers, the exhibition/contest, which is currently being held at a district level, will be expanded to national and international levels in future.

The exhibition will continue till November 8 and will be open between 10am and 6pm except on Monday and public holidays.
