FAISALABAD: Mills delaying sugarcane crushing has caused great deal of difficulty for farmers as they need to remove sugarcane and sow wheat, said District Farmers Association President Mian Tahir Saeed on Thursday. He said that sugar mills’ administration is intentionally delaying crushing as they want to reduce prices of sugarcane and exploit maximum benefit from growers, added Saeed. The farming community wants to empty their sugarcane fields in order to sow wheat as this is the ideal time to cultivate wheat and get a bumper crop. The government should take notice of this situation and issue directives to sugar mills to start crushing instantly, he said.
