At least four people including a commander of the pro-government Amn Force were killed and five others injured in an armed clash near the troubled Sui area of Bugti Tribal Territory on Monday, according to local sources and a Baloch Republican Army (BRA) spokesperson.
Banned outfit BRA claimed responsibility for the attack. A purported BRA spokesperson, who introduced himself as Sarbaz Baloch, said his organisation ambushed the vehicle of the force near Sui.
Local sources said, “Both groups were armed with sophisticated weapons and firing lasted several hours”.
Officials, however, did not confirm the killings although the Dera Bugti and Jaffarabad police did say the incident took place near Sui.
Baloch said his organisation ambushed the vehicle of Amn Force Commander Nabi Daid who lost his life in the attack. He also claimed that security personnel were killed in the ambush. Security forces in Quetta, on the other hand, refuted the report.
