“YDA Punjab has a strong network at the Services Hospital and at Jinnah Hospital. If Dr Ali Abdullah is not recovered by Monday, operations at those hospitals will cease,” said YDA’s representatives Dr Imran and Dr Abu Baker Gondal.
Dr Ali Abdullah went missing on his way home from the hospital.
Dr Sarfraz, who is the additional medical superintendent at Services Hospital, said that the Punjab Police have informed him that his son was not in the custody of any provincial agency. He ruled out Dr Abdullah’s involvement with the terrorists who attacked Jinnah Hospital on May 31 to free or kill the terrorist Moaz in the Intensive Care Unit of the hospital.
He requested the federal government to free his son. Earlier, he had accused the provincial government, the federal government and the federal intelligence agency of kidnapping his son.
He said the Punjab YDA and senior doctors had devised a strategy for protests at the Services and Jinnah Hospitals.
The campaign will be expanded to include other hospitals if this does not prove enough.
Dr Sarfraz told The Express Tribune that a person claiming to represent the premier intelligence agency had assured him that his son would be returned.
Asked about his son’s affiliation with any religious or political organisation, he said that while pursuing his degree at the Allama Iqbal Medical College, Abdullah was the nazim of the Islami Jamiat-e-Talaba. He said that he himself belonged to the Jamaat-e-Islami (JI). He said that he had informed JI’s provincial president Dr Waseem about his missing son.
