Lawyers present during the funeral prayers belonged to the Lawyers and Civil Society Coordination Forum.
Former secretary of Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA) Raja Zulqarnain, who was present there to pay respects to the slain strongman said, “Qaddafi was a dear friend of Pakistan.”
“We believe he was martyred while fighting the colonial US and North Atlantic Treaty Organisation (NATO) forces.
Earlier today, Libya’s National Transitional Council (NTC) buried Moammar Qaddafi at an unknown location at dawn, Al Jazeera television said, quoting a source in the council.
Transitional government forces had put the body on show in a cold store in Misrata while they argued over what to do with it, until its decay forced them Monday to end the display.

@Billoo Bhaya: have you read manto...? i am sure you cant even name one of his classics without refering to google.Had you read Manto and understood his message...you would not have been such a biased person towards fellow humanbeings.stop pretending your intellect. Its better to be illiterate than a pretending to be an intellectuaal

Sadly, this is the confusion that the Pak public and the State suffer, supporting conflicting issues and contradicting themselves over. The Govt should make its stand very clear about where it is headed and take the public in to confidence. Often, Pak govt gets into delusions and denials, to appease the extreme right with conspiracies galore, leaving the public befuddled for directions. Time for govt to come clean and decide its position!
@Billoo Bhaya. I connect greatly with Manto and his thoughts. I am astonished at you saying that some people in Pakistan dislike him. Can you please tell me about the general feeling in Pakistan about Manto ? Further I don't think anyone is planning to nuke Pakistan. That would be brutal and unjust. Everybody is quite HOPEFUL that Pakistan would one-day find peace within. As-salamu alaikum.
@Straight_Talk: Absolutely right. Most people in Pakistan have not read Manto, dislike him without ever reading him or understanding what he stood for and what is message was. So much for education in Pakistan. You can see the result from the lawyers and ex-Judges of protecting committed felons and murderers, all in the name of religion. So one day if the US nukes Pakistan they too could also be justified in using religion as a defence.
@Abdul: people like Jameel are among those who believe everything is holier in West including its propaganda machine .He is one of those who still belive Saddam had WMDs...because Western Media said so.
God bless his soul. Terrorists with the help of West have occupied Libya and soon they will turn this beautiful, rich, developed, peaceful and stable country into another Somalia. People of Libya have paid the price, West will pay for their stupid mistake in near future.
He was a dictator, however he did develop his country a lot and also donated for humanitarian causes, and stood up against western powers by taking control of Libya's oil resources. He also oppressed and killed his opponents and killed civilians overseas in response to killings of Libyans by western bombings. That makes him a typical dictator, not very different than other Arab and non Arab dictators. He had his goods and bads. End of the day he died as a Muslim and nothing wrong in Janaza prayers for him. Janaza prayers can be offered for Muslims executed by state for murders or other crimes. Just try not to make a hero of him.
Dear lawyers What about prayers for all those that die of terrorist attacks? Those in penguin suits that claim qadri is a hero along with obl an qadaffi should line up Like pengiuns and jump off the north pole
The 'Lawyers' first showered rose petals on Qadri, then they offered prayers for OBL and now Qaddafi. Reminds me of a saying about being known by the company you keep.
I donot understand pakistani minds. When the whole libya hate gaddafi & are happy to celebrate his death. pakistanis are busy in mourning gaddafi,s death. We will never face reality.
@amjad: Hw was a friend of Pakistan, He was a friend of Muslim World. His efforts made him Chairman of African Union, which is showing his fair and intellactual character... He just has been killed because He was the Part of that row of Leaders which promoted Muslim Unity...!!
Whats wrong in lawyer,s action? And..further, there is another tyrant (in US pinion) by the name of Castro. Why does not NATO & US bomb him out? This is the double standard of the West which are breeding hate against it.
@Jameel: Sorry to say but you and also those who recommended you,are those who listen to media analysis. You believe specially in western media and tend not to think with their own minds. Use your brains and analyse international politics but not through the eyes of western media.
First ossama and now Qadhafi. Lawyers in Lahore seem to specialize in finding "good" candidates for funeral prayers.
Just because, he was a friend of Pakistan does not make him good. These people are despots and tyrants, They have killed and murdered their own people. People, like Qaddafi, Assad, Mubarak and Saleh they do not deserve any sympathy. They were in power because the west tolerated these characters, as it was easy to deal with the devils they knew. US and NATO came to help only after the peoples uprising. Iraq, is the only place the west has imposed its will.
I am sorry but I would never say a single word in favour of murder of a murderer(alleged). If had committed crimes, he should have been given fair opportunity to defend himself in a court of law! period.
“Qaddafi was a dear friend of Pakistan.”
A man is known by the company he keeps!!
@Jameel: Jameel, I agree with you 100%. Our love for tyrant dictators is second to none. The man may be a mass murderer but he did throw a few crumbs (more than the Saudis) and some in Pakistan are being his faithful. One would not find such love for a human rights advocate and a democrat in Pakistan. It is a shame that we still live in old tribal ages. Thanks and regards, Mirza
He killed over 40,000 of his own people. These lawyers should be de-barred.
Are these lawyers nuts???
It's a shame that people who are suppose to know something about law and justice openly support both OBL and Gaddafi - ruthless people who cared nothing about the rights of others.
Oil rich Libya, free education, country with no debts whatsoever, subsidized healthcare system, free homes to live; 8th wonder of the world man made river. All gone now !
People of Libya will see that days to come will be worse than before;
He gave evidence to US about Dr AQ Khan network
Perhaps someone should remind these lawyers that it was the admission of our "Dear Friend" Qaddhafi in 2003 that got us into so much trouble with the US and Western powers over our Nuclear program.
Mr. Qaddafi made the admission to get his own regime out of the cold and initiate billions in business deals from the West and that resulted in one of the worst fall-outs for Pakistan over the safety of our nuclear weapons and resulted in the arrest of Dr. Qadeer (another poster boy for these people).
Its really sickening to see just how short sighted we as people are and have no idea where our interests lie.
Personally I don’t know what kind of person he was, due to fewer data about him...although I have been studied so countless pieces in opposition to his system of imperative but there is a bit in my heart for him, when he were slayer I was actually disappoint that it didn’t occur well. God May Bless Him ...After all he was a Muslim & in the behavior he has murdered. It was not mitigating the regulation of law...
Vienna,25-10-2011 I welcome if Pakistani lawyers openly defend the " friend" Qaddafi and conduct a " Qaddafi type war crime trial" that I witnessed as invitee in Brussels in the eighties in Pakistan holding President Obama responsible for the fate of the friendly dictators of the worst kind. That will expose the Pakistani legal profession to make themselves disqualify from participating in the International Court of justice. If Moammar Gaddafi was so so unpopular, as alleged, why was he buried secretly and in an unknown place? By burying him in a known place the world would have witnessed the disrespect Libyans would have shown to his grave! This shows that he was a popular leader. Anyway we Muslims will never learn and one-by-one any Muslim leader who wants to bring a healthy change to his country, or tries to change trade currency, or raises voice for the Muslim world should be ready to be martyred in this way. Sadly we have forgotten the command by Allah to hold tight the rope of Islam, resultantly we all are facing the consequences. Our unislamic actions have given space for the satanic forces to unite and strengthen.
This is how Hitler came to power. All these guys need now is a demagogue.
People ain
t satisfied at any cost, even though they have been grantled heavy luxeries of Life in addition self-esteem reserved against brute super powers..!! Gaddafi is a martyr and he did
nt kill anyOne..And soon we will see protests to " Rename Qaddafi Stadium to Gaddafi Shaheed Stadium "
Where are these guys when people die as victims of terrorism or drone attacks? People seem to be only interested making heroes of those people who seem to be defying the US or NATO, even if that person is a butcher and hated by his own people.
Libyans think he is a murderer. Why do we always have to go against popular opinion of a country?
