Imported sugar arrives

KARACHI: A ship carrying sugar imported by the Trading Corporation of Pakistan (TCP) has arrived. An official of the TCP said here on Thursday that MV Golden Falcon with 21, 000 metric tons of sugar has arrived at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim.

The vessel will be berthed on Friday morning and the unloading will start immediately.

The consignment is in respect of the tender awarded to M/s Al Khaleej LLC of Dubai for the import of 200,000 tons of sugar.

The TCP official further stated that the shipments of sugar are taking place as per contracts awarded in view of the decision of the Economic Coordination Committee of the Cabinet.

He said that the sugar so far arrived in the country is to the tune of 263,908 metric tons. Two more ships carrying 47,000 metric tons of sugar would be arriving next week to augment the existing stock, the TCP official further stated.
