Khyber-pakhtunkhwa: ‘Top priority given to police welfare’

The force is far more stable and strong than before, says Hoti.

PESHAWAR: Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ameer Haider Khan Hoti has said that the provincial government has undertaken remarkable steps for strengthening the province’s police force and for the welfare of its personnel. Due to these efforts, the force is far more stable and strong than before, he said, adding that the establishment of a housing colony for the police will be ensured. He was talking to senior police officials upon his brief visit to the central police office. The CM said that the government was confronted with insurgency and militancy since its inception and keeping this in mind, priority has been given to the capacity building of the police force. He further said that the police was meant to control routine crimes and maintain law and order and was not in a proper position to counter insurgency. He added that the government undertook prompt steps for the provision of modern training and equipment, improved infrastructure and an increase in the number of personnel, salaries and incentives.
