MQM leader accuses PML-N of supporting militants

Haider Abbas Rizvi alleges that PML-N supports militants financially in exchange for their services during elections.

Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) leader Haider Abbas Rizvi on  accused the Pakistan Muslim League - Nawaz (PML-N) of supporting banned outfits in the country.

Responding to the allegations leveled by PML-N chief Nawaz Sharif, Rizvi said that the party had been supporting militant organisations financially in exchange for their services during elections.

Earlier, Sharif had criticised the current government of being a "total failure" and accused the MQM of introducing politics of terrorism in Pakistan and added that it was involved in disturbing peace in Karachi.

Rizvi said that the character of PML-N could easily be judged by the Punjab government’s open support to such groups.

The MQM leader also accused Sharif of promoting state terrorism in Karachi that caused the law and order situation in the city to deteriorate.

He alleged that 15, 000 innocent people had been killed in Karachi on Sharif’s orders, adding that a number of young people in the city were jailed and tortured till they were disabled.

MQM's return will help bring normalcy to Karachi: Gilani 

Prime Minister Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani on Wednesday welcomed Muttahida Quami Movement’s (MQM) decision to rejoin the government and said it will help bring normalcy to the city.

Karachi plays a very important role in the country’s economy, the prime minister said during a call-on by Sindh Governor Dr Ishratul Ebad Khan and Sindh Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah on his arrival at the Governor House. The matters relating to law and order situation in the metropolis were discussed at the meeting.

The chief minister informed the prime minister that the law and order situation had greatly improved.
He assured that the provincial government will continue action without any discrimination against those involved in disrupting peace and security in the city and they will be brought to justice.
