The contractual employees of National Database and Registration Authority (Nadra) on Monday staged a protest against the government for not regularising them. They also demanded promotions for those who had been working with the authority for the past 10 years.
Hundreds of people, representing the non-regularised workforce of Nadra, had come from all across the country to participate in the protest that took place in front of the National Press Club (NPC).
The demonstration was held under the banner of All Pakistan Nadra Employees Association (EPNEA).
Carrying placards with slogans such as “We demand permanent, We want permanent” inscribed on them, the protesters
rallied from NPC to the Parliament House stopping in front of the NADRA Headquarter. The protesters claimed that 14,000 people are currently working for Nadra on a contract basis, and despite repeated assurances by the prime minister the government has not regularised them.
They stated that employees, who have been working in Nadra since it was established, in 2000, have still not been made permanent.
Speaking on the occasion, President APNEA Muhammad Saleem said that the employees have been working on a contractual basis since many years. Expressing concern, he said the Nadra workforce is protecting the future of every citizen of this country by maintaing information about them, but their own future is not secure.

Appeal to Hon’ able Prim Minister of Pakistan
REQUEST FOR PRAL EMPLOYEE REGULARIZATION

Pakistan Revenue Automation Ltd (PRAL) a subsidiary of FBR Govt. of Pakistan. We working in PRAL since 1998, only 10% employees have regularized and about 90%’re waiting for Regularization. Therefore we appeal to the concerned authority to regularize our services/Jobs in PRAL/FBR.
I am work at Benazeer income support program project since one year please converted nadra department i am hard worker
in fact all employees of nadra want to be permanent and timing of offices is too long 8;to 5 pm which is very difficult for women employees
i totally agree with Confidential as we have been promised many times by the government before and there has been no result. The government might be going in a few months to come and this is probably just a publicity stunt and they will then play the blame game on the upcoming government. They dont realize that they will be playing with the hearts of so many just to please some retired army officials who have been ruling NADRA on senior positions. They dont want to regularize Nadra as they cannot get permanent because they are already retired and have taken their gratitude fund and cant have it again. This way they think they will loose their powers as everyone will be permanent but them. I hope that this is not the case but it has been over the past couple of times. This is a brilliant decision of the government who regularized all of the contract employees. In fact all of the NADRA employees deserving the regularization. Congratulation to all NADRA employees.
