HYDERABAD: Higher Education Commission Chairman Dr Javed Laghari’s brother Farooq Leghari was arrested on Monday on charges of forging documents of land worth Rs70 million.

Hyderabad Civil Court has granted a four-day investigative remand of the former DCO Tando Allahyar.

Speaking to Express News, Deputy Director of the Sindh Anti Corruption Establishment, Aftab Mujadad Asran, said a request for Leghari's remand will be made in court.

Sources said an inquiry was conducted into Laghari's alleged forgery, and an FIR was registered against him on the basis of allegations levelled by a revenue officer of Tando Allahyar.

Laghari's lawyer Zaheeruddin Laghari said that Farooq is a grade 19 officer who was arrested due to political pressure and all the charges against him are fake. Farooq Laghari's sister Najma Laghari has also filed a petition in high court circuit bench against arrest of her brother.
