ISLAMABAD: The ministry of interior on Thursday issued a formal notification of a five-day work week from Saturday, October 15. Earlier this week, the cabinet had decided to observe two weekly off days in the wake of a severe power shortage in the country. The notification issued by the interior ministry also includes private offices. It stated that a five-day work week will be observed in all public and private entities under the federal government. However, the notification said selected operational branches of commercial banks will continue to work on Saturdays to facilitate corporate customers and businesses in their financial transactions. All offices will work for eight hours a day (8 am - 4 pm) including Fridays, with a half hour lunch break at 1 pm. On Fridays, an extra hour of break (12:30 pm - 2 pm) will be given for Friday prayers, the notification said.
