Chairperson of the Pervez Musharraf Foundation, the former president’s wife and first lady, Sehbra Musharraf has rejected allegations of any order to close down the foundation. She dubbed the accusation as baseless and an attempt by powerful groups to tarnish the good work that the foundation is carrying out in the flood-hit areas.

In her statement, she denounced the claims that the foundation’s office bearers and members are party to corruption and involved in misappropriation of the institution’s funds, which are audited by accredited agencies. She categorically rejected the claims that the office bearers are salaried employees. She further clarified that the foundation is not only registered in Pakistan but also in the USA and the UK.

She stated that the foundation is jointly supervised by a seven-member Board of Governors. To ensure check on corruption at every level, she said that the cheques can only be issued through joint signatures of the Secretary-General and the Treasurer.
