KARACHI:

The first meeting of the committee headed by the Sindh High Court chief justice to review the implementation of the Supreme Court's judgment in the Karachi violence suo motu case was held here Tuesday evening.

The chief secretary, special secretary, home department's Waseem Ahmed, director-general of the Pakistan Rangers, Inspector General of Police Wajid Ali Khan Durrani, and officials from the top intelligence agencies and other law enforcers attended the meeting that was held in the judges library.

The law enforcers and intelligence officials submitted their reports which were reviewed and taken on record to be sent onwards to the apex court along with the proceedings of the meeting as ordered by the five-member bench.

Chief Justice Musheer Alam, who heads the committee, informed the participants that they would be meeting on the first Tuesday of every month.

Earlier, the meeting started after a considerable delay as the DG Rangers was stated to be busy elsewhere. In response to several telephone calls, he kept on assuring the staff that he would be reaching in time. In the end, the chief secretary spoke to him on the mobile phone of the SHC registrar. He arrived a few minutes after.
