Bus burning: Witnesses refuse to identify ST leaders in court

The ST leaders were arrested from their party headquarters on Thursday night.

An arson case against three leaders of the Sunni Tehreek fell to pieces on Monday when the man who went to the police and an eyewitness refused to identify them in court.


The ST’s Shahid Ghauri, Mubeen Qadri and Nadeem Qadri were produced before judicial magisrate Shahid Ahmed N Awan to be identified.

However, the owner of the bus that was set on fire, Madad Khan, and eyewitness Hazrat Ali said that they were not the people who did the deed.

The ST leaders were arrested from their party headquarters on Thursday night while the party supported a strike called by the Sunni Ittehad Council, a new group formed to protest the death sentence awarded to Mumtaz Qadri for killing Punjab Governor Salmaan Taseer.

The men are in custody till October 11.
