A woman and her accomplices set her husband on fire on Sunday morning.
According to police officials, Bhowana tehsil resident Kausar set her husband, Azam, on fire after he expressed his intention to take a third wife. “Kausar was his second wife and Azam had married her without telling his first wife Ameena,” said a neighbour Faiz Shah. “When his first wife found out she left to live with her parents and they got a divorce. Now he wanted to marry again but Kausar found out,” he added.
On Sunday morning, Kausar and her friends Irshad and Qazim attacked Azam and tied him to a chair. Kausar then sprinkled petrol on him and set him on fire.
“They tied him to a chair and burned him. He has suffered over 70 per cent burns to his entire body and has been admitted to the hospital,” said Station House Officer (SHO) Naveed Murtaza. “The woman has escaped but we have people searching for her and she and her accomplices will be arrested within two days,” he said.
Kausar’s neighbours told police officials that Azam had already contracted his third marriage and when Kausar found out she went into a rage. “He insisted that he had not married a third time but had sought permission to do so,” the SHO said. Police officials said that they were searching Azam’s records to confirm his account.
Azam’s uncle Lal Supra said that he went to visit Azam only to find his body burned. “We immediately took him to the hospital but doctors say he is unlikely to survive,” he added. “My mother has tried to kill my father and I want her arrested. She had no right to do what she did even if he was married,” Azam’s son Asghar Ali told police.
Ali filed a case against his mother and her accomplices with Chiniot Police and said that he wanted his mother in prison.
Hospital officials at Allied Hospital said that Azam had suffered over 70 per cent third degree burns to his body and was unlikely to survive. “He was brought to us in critical condition and we have done everything we can to help him but it is unlikely he will survive. He is currently being housed in the burns unit and his son is with him,” Dr Zain Sarwar said. “Most of the injuries are to his face and upper body. He was also severely beaten before the burning,” he said.
Before he collapsed in the hospital, Azam gave a statement saying that Kausar had burned him and that he had not contracted a third marriage.
Police officials said that Kausar’s two daughters had also fled the area. Police officials have registered an FIR (vide 571-2011) under Section 324 and 24 of the Pakistan Penal Code (PPC) and are searching for the accused.

This man cheated his second wife pretending to be a bachelor and now trying to deceive her again to get third wife. A woman's pride is her virginity, is a gift to her loved husband. When a woman is burned or acid poured on her in the name of honour, what is wrong if she kills a habitual liar and a cheat when there is no recourse in law.
@furqan: The proof of the inability to adapt is all around us. Take a look around. Idealism is only good on paper. Reality catches up pretty fast.
@Sindhi-Topi: U see that is the point, that this is your understanding that if we follow ISLAM as we should, we would turn taliban which is not true, the things which are mentioned which were for that era are mentioned clearly in the QURAN KAREEM and SUNNAH, And every true muslim can cope and adapt to the teachings of ISLAM .Whoever wills can adapt easily, it is just our thought that we can't.It will never work unless you understand the teachings correctly and atleast try to implement them.
@furqan: When you leave it to interpretation, you will get the likes of the Taliban. Not everyone can "cope" and adapt the teachings that were meant for a different era.
@Infidel Humanist @Sindhi-Topi If a person really follows ISLAM properly and by it's original teachings QURAN AL KAREEM & SUNNAH sincerely he can cope with the changes in the world, People are doing that still. And by the way there is nothing in the teachings which are "incompatible with contemporary human values" that is just your thought and your view of understanding the teachings in ISLAM you should study it more carefully there are benefits in every LAW.And my point of view is that if a person rejects an ayah in the Quran he cannot be a true Muslim. And remember the way to hell fire is very easy but to JANNAH its tough, this life is a test for us.
@Sheraz:
Yes, that is exactly what he is saying. For Islam to survive and flourish, it will have to abandon those parts that are incompatible with contemporary human values. So, no more slavery, polygamy, lapidation, etc.. That really can't be that hard, can it?
I am amazed at the kind of responses coming to this sad news. So you think it's cool that a women did this to a man and not the vice versa...great if the so called literates think like this what can you expect of the masses.
For the apologetics of Islam. Please read up before you say something of which you don't know anything about. Please take some time out and the Quran yourself and think again ......
if women are burnt for not bringing dowery or marrying of free will, what's wrong with a woman toasting her husband?
hell hath no fury like a woman scorned
@Pir Ali Raza: I think you need to study the religion more carefully polygamy was not just for that time, it is still valid now and there wasn't any wahee after that to cancel it, but there are also conditions in it that all have to be treated equally and given equal rights which is manageable. And we have no right to make something which ALLAH has made halal to make it sinful(Haram). Further this article portrays he was married to 2 women at that but he wasn't as it mentions the first wife got a divorce, SHE USED her RIGHT and the second could have also done that rather than burning someone which you think its correct.
I heard a saying in my childhood, if a person can leave someone for you, he can leave you some day even for someone else.... So the 2nd wife just got a bit of karma to haunt her, to bad for the guy he had married a total psychopath.
@Pir Ali Raza: So what are you saying. We should take out stuff from Quran which we don't like? If you don't want to follow a religion just don't follow it.
Long time back one of our poet philosopher Josh Malihabadi said and very rightly Irtiqa ki iss manzil maen abhi ham neem wehshi hain. Meaning, IN THE PROCESS OF EVOLUTION WE ARE STILL SEMI WILD
Don’t want to say any thing more on the incident.

This wasn’t right. If she was so against re-marriage, she shouldn’t have done this herself. Or when she knew she is the second wife, she should have left the man herself. But she continued. Then why is she so furious on 3rd marriage. It is the same what she did to another woman. People are becoming extremely insane out here. All 18 Cror need mental counseling.
@narayana murthy: Agreed. Tripple your troubles as well.
@narayana murthy LOL interesting fact is that most of those who have more than one wife are the ones living a below average life and when they committ 2nd or 3rd marriage; they abandon thier first and second wives
@sindhi Topi.. I thought and read FOUR times....
she shoudl have divorced or handled it leagally than taking law into her hands...but he is definaltely a candidate worthy for punishment
It is the right of every Islamist to marry 3 times !!!!!! STOP BURNING US !!
she should be punished for murder....What state has our society become
