Disaster Day: ‘Rescue 1122 will soon go nationwide’

On National Disaster Day, doctor says management and response teams should be improved.

LAHORE:

Disaster management and response systems must be improved in all provinces, said Punjab Emergency Services Director General Dr Rizwan Naseer in a message on National Disaster Day.

Dr Naseer said that the Rescue 1122 service had rescued over one million people in emergencies. He said that Rescue 1122, the disaster response force of the Punjab government, would soon be replicated elsewhere in the country and it was also a model for emergency services in other South Asian countries.

“I am confident that rescuers will always be prepared and motivated to face any challenge in a professional manner,” he said. Still, he added, a lot more needed to be done in terms of preventive measures.
