KARACHI: Rangers arrested two Sunni Tehrik leaders in a search operation while incidents of violence claimed the lives of five people in the city early Friday morning.

Interior Minister Rehman Malik had directed Rangers to restore peace in Karachi after three people were killed in firing incidents in different areas of the city.

Two dead bodies had been recovered from Napier road and Surjani Town while a passenger bus was torched by miscreants in Korangi, triggering panic in the city.

Markets and gas stations were closed in violence affected areas.

Traders have announced their support to a strike called by religious parties - in spite of Interior Minister Rehman Malik's assurance to provide security to the city's business community.

Meanwhile, Rangers have arrested two leaders of Sunni Tehrik after conducting a raid on its central office.

Rangers also raided Sunni Tehrik Chief, Srawat Qadri's residence early Friday morning.

Why Sunni Tehreek be made escape goat. Ranjers never raided Mardan house of ANP, 90 of MQM and Bilawal House of PPP, the reason they are in power?

So much for the suo motu notice by the Chief Justice. Everyone knows that this time it were the Sunni Tehrik political workers who were behind last night's violence. They do not have any political clout, nor are they part of any political reconciliation process. Then why can't the leaders of this party be prosecuted?
