Workshop: Women’s role in decision making urged
PESHAWAR:
Government and civil society organisations need to work towards strengthening the role of women in decision making processes for better participation and relief in crisis situations. This was the consensus at a one-day workshop on “Role of Women in Protection, Participation, Prevention, Relief and Recovery in Crisis Affected Areas of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa”, held here on Wednesday, said a press release. The workshop was organised by United Nations Entity on Gender Equality and Women Empowerment, in collaboration with Pakistan Institute for Mothers and Newborns. Participants focused on strategies for reintegrating communities that have been affected by crisis in Pakistan. It focused on three main issues of governance, early recovery and relief, and women’s role in decision making. The main recommendations of the event included making women independent by amending Frontier Crimes Regulation and bringing reforms in education and social sectors.
