Karo Kari: Nephew kills aunt and injures sister

SUKKUR: A woman was killed and her niece was injured, by her nephew over karo-kari allegations in Mohammad Saleh Bhatti village near Ubauro on the Sindh-Punjab border. Asghar Mirani suspected that his married sister Waziran had an affair. He barged into her house on Tuesday night and shot her. His aunt, Mai Janul, tried to save Waziran but was shot dead. Waziran was injured, while Asghar escaped. The police took the body to the taluka hospital in Sadiqabad. Head constable Muzaffar Shah told The Express Tribune that Mai Janul’s son, Irshad Ahmed Mirani, lodged an FIR against three men, including Asghar, but no arrest was made so far. It is alleged that Waziran eloped with a man named Jurio Mirani about a month ago. But the elders intervened and she came back to her husband. However, Asghar Mirani was still looking for revenge.
