HYDERABAD:

Sindh High Court ordered the regularisation of 306 contract employees in the education department of Umerkot district.

A petition had been filed by Rehmatullah and other employees in grades 1 to 4, who were appointed on a three-year contract in 2007. According to their lawyer, barrister Zamir Ghumro, their contract period was extended for six months in August 2010. However, the government declined to offer any further extension. “Instead the government advertised fresh appointments for these posts,” Ghumro argued in court. The court ordered regularization of these employees and barred fresh appointments.
