SARGODHA: A herd of buffaloes and a donkey attacked citizens in the district after they escaped from a shed in the district on Sunday afternoon. According to eyewitnesses, a police official was injured during a stampede as the animals rushed into several shops and damaged the premises. Police and the Wildlife Department launched a joint operation to recover the animals and two buffaloes were killed. The incident occurred near Bhatti market on Jail Road where someone set off a fire cracker and the sound spooked a herd of buffaloes who rushed through the streets. During the attack, police official Ashraf was on duty outside the DIG office and was trampled by the animals. Ashraf is in the hospital in critical condition. The animals also damaged several shops.
