Three members of a family, including a police constable and a Balochistan Levies official, were gunned down by unidentified assailants near a bus stop in Kalat, about 145 kilometres south of Quetta, on Friday. According to Kalat police, all the three victims, two of whom were brothers, were sitting inside a grocery shop when four armed men opened fire on them, killing the three on the spot and injuring another bystander. The assailants escaped from the scene of the crime. A heavy contingent of police reached the spot and took the bodies and the injured to a nearby hospital. Those killed were identified as police constable Kaleemullah, his brother Balochistan Levies head constable Hafizullah and their cousin Saifullah. The motive behind the killings could not be ascertained.
