Jaffarabad accident: Girl dies as school van falls into drain

A van carrying students of Government Girls High School, Sohbatpur was on its way to Dargi.

QUETTA: A seven-year-old girl died while 16 others, including children and a female teacher, were injured when a school van plunged into the outfall drain near Sohbatpur on Friday. A van carrying students of Government Girls High School, Sohbatpur was on its way to Dargi town when it plunged into the outfall drain, according to police reports. Seven-year-old Hurul Haeen Khosa died on the spot while 15 children and a female teacher sustained injuries. “The children received multiple injuries while teacher Najma Bibi is in critical condition,” doctors at the hospital said. The police have arrested and are investigating the driver of the van, Mohammad Ali, who escaped unhurt in the incident. “One of the children took over the steering which resulted in the disaster,” a police official at Sohbatpur police station quoted the driver as saying.
