Dengue fever: Death toll reaches 121 in Lahore

LAHORE: Another patient who had contracted dengue fever died at Mayo Hospital in Lahore, Express 24/7 reported Friday.

Thirty-five-year old Zahid Bashir was the resident of Kachupura area.

The death toll has risen to 121, out of which 112 deaths have been reported from Lahore, whereas the total number of dengue cases reported in Punjab has reached 11,915. 10,500 cases have been reported from Lahore.

CM Punjab directs authorities to take immediate steps

Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif has directed authorities to take immediate steps in order to eradicate dengue from all affected areas of the province.

He gave the directives while he chaired a session of provincial committee on dengue virus in Lahore.

Sharif also ordered to send medical and surveillance teams to the affected areas.

He said town committees must be formed in districts and immediate steps should be taken to control its spread into other localities.

The chief minister asked the elected representatives to only focus on dengue till its eradication.

Funeral prayers of PML-N MPA held

Funeral prayers of the deceased Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) Member of Provincial Assembly (MPA) Mumtaz Jajja have been offered in Bahawalpur.

Jajja was a resident of Bahawalpur who was admitted in Jinnah Hospital after he contracted dengue fever.

After his health deteriorated rapidly, he succumbed to the fever on Thursday.
