Petit Planet brings Animal Crossing competition to Nintendo Switch 2 in 2027
HoYoverse confirms 2027 Nintendo Switch 2 release for its upcoming life simulation game Petit Planet

HoYoverse's upcoming life simulation game Petit Planet is heading to Nintendo Switch 2 in 2027, setting up a potential competitor to Nintendo's Animal Crossing series on the console.
The announcement was made during a pre-launch special programme livestream hosted by HoYoverse.
A brief trailer at the end of the presentation confirmed that a Switch 2 version is in development, alongside gameplay footage showing the game running in both docked and handheld modes.
Petit Planet is already scheduled to launch on PC, iOS and Android on December 4 2026. The newly confirmed console version will follow in 2027, although HoYoverse has not provided a more specific release date.
The game shares several features with Animal Crossing: New Horizons, including character customisation and developing a homestead.
However, rather than building a traditional island community, players work towards creating and developing their own planet. Its science-fiction setting also gives it a different visual identity.
Farming is expected to play a more prominent role in Petit Planet than in Animal Crossing, with the game also drawing comparisons to other cosy simulation titles such as Stardew Valley.
The upcoming release could give Nintendo Switch 2 owners another option in the life simulation genre.
