‘Obsession’ director Curry Barker wants to collaborate with Nathan Fielder and has already pitched a project together
Barker made clear that his admiration extended to Fielder’s creative approach describing it as fresh and different

Obsession director Curry Barker has expressed interest in working with Nathan Fielder after watching the filmmaker’s unconventional project You Can See Everything, revealing that he has already approached him about a possible collaboration.
Speaking to Variety at the Time100 Next Gala on Thursday, Barker praised the film, which explores the story of Elizabeth Holmes through a format that blurs the boundaries between documentary and narrative filmmaking.
“I thought it was freakin’ insane and awesome,” Barker said, admitting that he knew little about Holmes’ story before watching it. He also said he wished the three-hour film had been longer, describing that reaction as rare.
Barker made clear that his admiration extended to Fielder’s creative approach. He described You Can See Everything as fresh and different, adding that he found it difficult to categorise the project as a conventional documentary.
When asked whether he would consider working with Fielder, Barker revealed that he had already raised the possibility directly with him.
“I told him that. I said, ‘Hey!’ … I just put it out in the water,” the director said.
However, Barker did not reveal whether Fielder had responded with any concrete plans, and no collaboration has been announced.
The two filmmakers have attracted attention for projects that challenge familiar storytelling conventions. Barker directed Obsession, while Fielder’s You Can See Everything has drawn attention for its unusual approach to the story of Holmes.
Barker also shared another memorable moment from the gala, recalling that he froze when he encountered Emma Watson. Having grown up as a fan of the Harry Potter films, he admitted that meeting the actor left him unable to play it cool.
Barker’s next feature, Anything But Ghosts, is scheduled to arrive on May 7, 2027. Actor and filmmaker Seth Rogen, who wrote Barker’s Time100 Next profile, has already praised the upcoming film, saying it is even better than Obsession.
