SHC seeks NAB probe update in investment fraud case
.

The constitutional bench of the Sindh High Court has directed the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) to submit a progress report on its investigation into an alleged investment fraud involving more than Rs15 billion within two weeks. The order was passed during the hearing of a contempt petition against the NAB chairman, the director general of NAB Karachi and others over the alleged large-scale fraud.
The DG NAB Karachi appeared before the court. NAB prosecutor Sadaf Rajput submitted that the case did not fall within NAB's jurisdiction under the relevant laws and had therefore been referred to the FIA.
She said NAB was willing to investigate the matter if the petitioners sought an inquiry under court orders.
The court exempted the DG NAB from appearing at the next hearing and directed the petitioners to provide all relevant evidence. The petitioners had objected to NAB's decision to transfer the case to the FIA, alleging that more than 1,000 citizens had been defrauded of over Rs15 billion in the name of investments.
