Mayor calls for measures to curb stray dog attacks
He also urged media to help build consensus on practical measures to protect citizens from dog bites, risk of rabies

Mayor Barrister Murtaza Wahab has called for effective measures to protect citizens from stray dog attacks, saying complaints of dog bites involving women, men and elderly people have been received.
He said the issue required immediate action rather than shifting responsibility to other institutions. Neutering stray dogs alone will not provide a complete solution, and a more effective strategy is needed to address the problem, said Wahab.
Referring to Turkey's decision to kill stray dogs, Wahab said that if the Karachi administration adopted a similar policy, it would face a campaign against it.
The mayor stressed that public safety should take precedence over political debate on the stray dog issue. He also urged the media to help build consensus on practical measures to protect citizens from dog bites and the risk of rabies.
