Jennifer Lawrence reveals unauthorised crew members watched her film nude scenes
The actress says speaking up is especially important for young performers who may fear being labelled difficult

Jennifer Lawrence has revealed that she confronted film executives after discovering that unauthorised crew members had been allowed to watch her while she filmed nude scenes, raising concerns about privacy and consent on movie sets.
Speaking on the Call Her Daddy podcast, the Oscar-winning actress said she was furious to learn that people who had not been approved to attend were present during a scene involving nudity. Lawrence did not identify the production or disclose when the incident occurred.
“I came down hard on it,” she said, explaining that her reaction was shaped partly by her position in the industry and her ability to challenge those responsible.
Lawrence said she has become increasingly conscious of the responsibility that comes with her professional standing. She questioned whether a young actress at the beginning of her career would feel able to raise the same concerns, particularly if she feared being labelled difficult or risking future opportunities.
Her comments highlight the importance of ensuring that performers can work without feeling pressured to accept unwanted exposure. Industry safeguards for intimate scenes are intended to restrict access to essential personnel and protect actors’ boundaries.
The issue also connects with Lawrence’s own experience of having her privacy violated. In 2014, intimate photographs of the actress were stolen and circulated online without her consent. She subsequently described the incident as a sexual violation.
When she agreed to appear nude in the 2018 thriller Red Sparrow, Lawrence spoke about the anxiety surrounding the decision, including concerns that people might misunderstand her choice after the photo leak.
She has previously stressed the distinction between choosing to appear nude in a film and having private images distributed without permission.
Lawrence also discussed feeling safe while filming intimate scenes with Robert Pattinson in the 2025 drama Die My Love. She said their working relationship made her comfortable, although her latest account underscores that performers should not have to rely solely on personal confidence to protect their privacy.
