Emily Osment explains why she requested an intimacy coordinator for 'Young Sheldon' scenes
Osment requested an intimacy coordinator for kissing scenes with Montana Jordan, citing their 11-year age gap

Emily Osment has explained why she requested an intimacy coordinator while filming romantic scenes with Montana Jordan for the CBS sitcom Young Sheldon, citing their 11-year age gap and the importance of making both actors comfortable.
The revelation appears in Jessica Radloff’s new book, Young Sheldon: The (Juicier-Than-Meemaw’s Brisket) Inside Story of the Hit Comedy, as reported by Variety.
Osment joined the series in its fifth season, when she was 30, while Jordan was 18.
“That made me uncomfortable. He was a baby! A baby with a mullet,” Osment said.
She explained that she approached producer Tim Marx, although an intimacy coordinator could not be arranged immediately. One was brought in for subsequent episodes as the characters’ relationship developed.
“It made everything easier having one there. I think it’s something that’s really important,” she added.
Osment also said she wanted Jordan to have the opportunity to express any discomfort during their scenes. “I don’t know if Montana even knew if he could ask for that. Like, let’s give him the option, too. Make him comfortable,” she said.
Alex Reid, who directed 36 episodes of the sitcom, acknowledged that the production had overlooked the challenges involved in filming kissing scenes because the show did not feature sex scenes.
“We totally dropped the ball,” Reid admitted, recalling how uncomfortable the actors had felt while filming an early scene together.
Series co-creator Steve Molaro supported Osment’s decision, saying she had “every right to ask” for an intimacy coordinator.
Osment and Jordan later reprised their roles in the spin-off Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage, continuing their on-screen partnership beyond Young Sheldon.
