Country singer Ella Langley has defended her decision to cancel her concert in Tulsa, Oklahoma, on October 9 after her team cited a serious security threat involving the safety of fans, venue staff and the artist.

Langley, 27, addressed the cancellation during her performance at the United Supermarkets Arena in Lubbock, Texas, on October 10. Speaking to the audience, she explained that she would not perform if she believed a show could put people at risk.

“When it comes to keeping you safe and making sure that this show is a safe place for us to come and enjoy our music, then it will happen. But the second it feels like it will not, I’m not doing it,” she said.

The singer added, “I would have made yesterday’s decision 10 billion times over — and I’d do it tomorrow, and I’d do it the next day — because, while I’m grateful to get to do what I do, it’s not the most important thing in this life.”

Langley said she had also considered cancelling the following night’s performance but ultimately felt it was safe to proceed.

In her statement announcing the Tulsa cancellation, Langley said the decision was made on the advice of local authorities, the venue and her security team.

She also apologised to fans for the disruption, acknowledging the time, travel, money and planning involved in attending a concert.

The Tulsa show was reportedly cancelled following a false bomb threat. The Tulsa Police Department said officers searched the venue with its K-9 unit, Bomb Team, patrol officers and BOK Center security but found nothing dangerous.

Police added that they had advised Langley’s team that there was “no credible threat to the event”, but the performance was cancelled regardless.

Langley’s team said information about ticket refunds would be provided to concertgoers soon. Police are asking anyone with information about the incident to contact Tulsa Crime Stoppers.
