Punjab eyes Chinese partnership on waste management

LAHORE:
The Punjab government is exploring cooperation with Chinese industrial group Grand Top in sanitation machinery, landfill management and waste-to-energy projects under its Suthra Punjab initiative, officials said on Friday.
The proposals were discussed at a meeting between Punjab Local Government Minister Zeeshan Rafique and a Chinese delegation led by Grand Top Chief Executive Officer Yang Chun Jun. The delegation also included the group's president, Wang Jian, and other officials.
Local Government Secretary Zaid Bin Maqsood and Suthra Punjab Authority Director General Umer Javed also attended the meeting.
Grand Top offered to share its expertise in modern sanitation equipment and related software with the provincial government. The two sides also discussed potential cooperation in landfill management and projects to convert waste into energy.
